Is high ping the same as slow internet?

No. Bandwidth (Mbps) and latency (ms) are independent. You can have a 1 Gbps line with 200 ms ping and feel slow on video calls but fast on downloads.

Why is my Wi-Fi slow but ethernet fast?

Wi-Fi adds airtime contention, interference, and signal loss. If ethernet is fine, the bottleneck is your radio environment, not the ISP.

Does a VPN slow down the internet?

Yes — encryption overhead and extra hops add latency and reduce throughput. Test with the VPN off to measure the cost.

What's an acceptable packet loss?

Under 1% is fine for browsing. Above 2% causes noticeable video, call, and gaming issues. Anything sustained is a red flag.
