IPv4 supports about 4.3 billion addresses, which we exhausted years ago. IPv6 supports 340 undecillion. Modern ISPs and operating systems prefer IPv6 when available; IPv4 still dominates legacy infrastructure.

Look up your current IP
See your public IP plus ISP, ASN, and approximate location.
Open What is my IPRoughly. They can see your ISP, country, and city, but not a street address. Law enforcement can request precise data from your ISP.
IPv4 is the original 32-bit format (192.0.2.1). IPv6 is the 128-bit successor (2001:db8::1) created because we ran out of IPv4 space.
It replaces your visible IP with the VPN's. DNS leaks, WebRTC, and browser fingerprinting can still expose you — test for leaks.
Most ISPs assign dynamic IPs. They rotate when your modem reconnects. Static IPs require a business plan or a VPS.
