How DNS affects security
Why DNS records matter for trust, deliverability, and impersonation.
Run a DNS lookupDNS is the trust layer
DNS records control where mail goes (MX), who can issue certificates (CAA), and how email is authenticated (SPF, DKIM, DMARC in TXT records).
What to verify
For your own domain: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. For a domain you're investigating: MX and TXT can reveal whether the mail setup matches a real organization.
Watch for changes
Unauthorized DNS changes are a common attack pattern. Monitoring catches them within minutes rather than days.
